This morning I worked from 8 to 10:30 weed whacking and reclaiming my backyard. The previous owner had their son live here, and he...umm...just seemed to neglect stuff. So there is a lot of growth in the far back of the property.
Point in case, the pic below. The growth was a good 2 feet further out. I had to take clippers and just chop everything to even make progress. Why?
This is why, plants with thorns. these two piles are 90% thorny weeds. I had no choice but to just chop everything because everything was so close to each other, it was near impossible to pick and choose what to keep. Also, did you know there’s at least two types of thorny weeds, wasn’t aware until today.
The pic below had growth up to where I took the pic, a foot tall or higher, and about 4’ out. Gosh I love my weed whacker.
I’m thinking of burning it all, since no poison ivy should be in there. But...I need to burn this pile first. It’s from previous weeks trimming, and those stupid vines. I’m letting it dry out first so it’ll burn easier.
My backyard looks nifty so far. My neighbors keep telling me they are so glad I’m taking care of the yard. Also got permission to take out some partially dead trees too.
It was hard work oppo. Two glasses of tea kind of hard work. But I deserve it, :).

I know, but no hospital will accept me, so they let me roam free instead.

The most important thing I've learned since buying a house is that I HATE yard work. HATE. Thankfully I have a privacy fence and a taller house than my neighbors.

You learn to deal with it...especially since I’m the only one willing to do it. It makes me excited one my kid gets older, she’ll ‘help’, :).
